The spring in Texas is always an excellent time for weddings and engagements. This spring Tamika and I were particularly excited and a part of which had to do with the fact that we got to shoot Joesph and Samantha’s beautiful island wedding at San Luis Resort in Galveston, TX. Being that it was my first time capturing a wedding in Galveston, coming in I had all kinds of ideas from other island weddings I had shot in Jamaica and the Bahamas. As always, things did not turn out as plan, but in this case, like most times, turned out better than I could have imagined.

Samantha had beautifully designed a classic chic wedding centered around her Peacock Feathered theme which she pulled together flawlessly. It was such a pleasure to be a part of their special occasion from which I am extremely excited about the images we were able to capture and share!

One of the things my wife and I have always appreciated is the support that we have received from the people that have known from our past. To me it is such an honor to capture the wedding of friend that you have known for a really long time. This was the case in Troy and Ricci’s outdoor wedding at Baldwin Park in downtown Houston Texas. I first met Ricci in what I think was 4th grade. So, when she informed me that she was getting married and considering me to photograph her wedding day, I was truly honored.

Troy and Ricci both live in Austin, but decided to have their wedding in Houston closer to all of their family and friends. The wedding itself was anything but typical and really complimented their personalities and reflected their appreciation for their friends and family. It was such a pleasure to capture their wedding day and we are really excited to share the images.magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding Dallas_wedding_photographer_607 magnolia hotel houston wedding Dallas_wedding_photographer_602magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding Dallas_wedding_photographer_603 magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding magnolia hotel houston wedding Dallas_wedding_photographer_606 magnolia hotel houston wedding baldwin park houston wedding baldwin park houston wedding baldwin park houston wedding baldwin park houston wedding baldwin park houston weddingDallas_wedding_photographer_580 Dallas_wedding_photographer_581 Dallas_wedding_photographer_583 Dallas_wedding_photographer_582 Dallas_wedding_photographer_584 Dallas_wedding_photographer_585 Dallas_wedding_photographer_586 Dallas_wedding_photographer_587 Dallas_wedding_photographer_588 Dallas_wedding_photographer_589 Dallas_wedding_photographer_590 Dallas_wedding_photographer_591 Dallas_wedding_photographer_592 Dallas_wedding_photographer_593 Dallas_wedding_photographer_594 Dallas_wedding_photographer_595 Dallas_wedding_photographer_596 Dallas_wedding_photographer_597 Dallas_wedding_photographer_598 Dallas_wedding_photographer_599 Dallas_wedding_photographer_600 Dallas_wedding_photographer_601 Dallas_wedding_photographer_604 Dallas_wedding_photographer_605

When Justin & Jessica first met it was during their Graduate school tenure at Uof H. I am sure at the time they did not realize that though they had started at rival universities, it would be their post graduate studies that would bring them together to form their new team as Husband and Wife. It was such an amazing experience shooting Justin and Jessica’s engagement photography session at the University of Houston in Houston Texas. We literally cannot wait to be a part of their wedding this fall at the Red Oak Ball Room in City Centre.University of Houston engagement photography session University of Houston engagement photography session University of Houston engagement photography session University of Houston engagement photography session

I proposed on a random Friday. Jessica had just come home from traveling and I asked her to lunch. Before we left her apartment, I told her that we hadn’t prayed in a while together and that I wanted to say a quick prayer before we left. She looked at me kind of funny because she thought something was wrong due to my very serious facial expression (I was nervous..lol). So I went through the normal prayer, praying for family, relationships, health, discipline and asked the Lord that if it were in His will that he would allow Jessica to be my wife. She literally hyperventilated because she didn’t see it coming.

This year’s engagement season began with my session with Julius & Cerrone engagement photography session at Rice University in Houston Texas. When I chose to shoot at that location I had no idea that it was Julius’ alma mater. We really had such a great time working with Julius & Cerrone and are happy to share the images from their session!Rice University Engagement session Rice University Engagement session Rice University Engagement sessionRice University Engagement session Rice University Engagement photo Rice University Engagement photoRice University Engagement photo Rice University Engagement photo  Rice University Engagement photo Rice University Engagement photo Rice University Engagement photo

It is difficult for me to discuss Vini & Denise’s wedding without expressing my genuine affection for them as a couple! Seriously, they are an incredible couple and they had orchestrate the best wedding you would ever want to participate.

More than the flowers, decor, and other  tangible items that make up the physical aspect of the wedding, there was an overwhelming feeling of love, compasion, and support that flowed through their personalities and was echoed by their family and friends that attended the wedding!

Everything about the wedding was uniquely crafted to reflect their character and values. For that reason, I considered it an incredible compliment when they chose me to document their wedding through my photography. Here are images from their wedding at St. Mark’s Mehodist Church and Nouveau Art Bar.

Typically, people think one of two things when it comes to shooting other photographers. They either think it is easier because you are shooting another photographer and they are familiar with the need for good lighting and posing or they believe it is more nerve racking because they know photography well and may be more critical of your work. What I found is that for me it is kind of like coming home after a very long time away. You think it is going to feel different and when you arrive it is a little different at first. But after a while you forget the weirdness and fall in to a groove that is all but unfamiliar. Before you know it, you are back in your zone and doing what you do best.

That is the way it was in my last session of 2012 and most likely the one session that will receive the most attention all year. The reason is because this session was of my friend, colleague, and co-conspirator to take over the world of photography and her Family. She is the genius behind ChristinShootsPeople Photography and Mochakid magazine which will make its highly anticipated debut in February!

If you are one of the 12,000+ fans that currently follow her facebook fanpage, then you have already been introduced to Riley, Baby Keon, and Christin’s Husband Keon. And though they seem like the perfect family to hang out with on instagram, trust me when I say the images do not do it justice. Riley has a smile and a personality that steels my wife heart every time we her see her. Everyone loves to laugh and smile and for me that is all I could every ask of any family. It was such an honor and a pleasure to shoot our friends and I look forward to the next time we hangout!

I have always tried to respond to extreme negativity with extreme positivity. Not always possible, but for the most part I believe that doing so reduces the impact of negativity, even if only in my mind. For me, sharing images of people in love and families together provide a reminder of the things that are really important in life. This is why in light of recent tragedies; I felt it extremely important to share images from my recent Family Photography Session with the Morris Family. It was such a pleasurable feeling to be in the presence of such a loving family. They provided a pleasant reminder of something beautiful in the shadow of darkness and to value my own family this Holiday season.

Special Thanks to Ashley Harris of Ashley Harris Photography!

We all think about it. Having a wedding draped with palm trees, a never ending ocean backdrop, drop dead gorgeous weather, and a relaxed vacation vibe with all of our close family and friends. I get it. But the reality is only a quarter of American’s have a destination wedding and less than one third of those weddings are held outside the Continental US.

So, for the small percentage of couples that choose to have their nuptials in an exotic and distant destination comes a awesome reward of rum punch filled rock glasses and aqua blue ocean water as clear as unstained and freshly cleaned window. That was the case for Damon and Adreana who managed to avoid being disappointed by Hurricane Sandy by a couple days.

The weather the day of the Wedding was absolutely amazing which was preceded by two nights of knockout punch (the name says it all), all inclusive goodness, and dancing all provided by Sandals Negril.

The whole experience was truly amazing and it was such an honor to participate in the wedding of Damon & Adreana Nash.

So, for those of you that have never visited the Alden Hotel in Houston, TX, you have yet to experience their marvelous second floor banquet space that offers the perfect hybrid of outdoor light and scenery with in door comfort. Which is awesome because to attend a outdoor wedding in Houston in the beginning of September one must prepare themselves to endure the humid heat.

Fortunately, I did not have to prepare myself for such torture to shoot James & Danielle’s sophisticated wedding soriee at the Alden Hotel! The affair was as she described it, which was ”Romantic Fun”.

As an added bonus both Danielle and James have a great appreciation for art work, as James himself is a painter, thus both encouraged me to explore creatively as I photographed their special day. As any photographer would tell you, that was definitely a plus!

With that being said, here are a few images from their wedding. Be sure to like our Fanpage and follow us on Pinterest!

It was really awesome to be a part of Scott & Jackie’s Wedding at the Hilton Americas in Houston, TX located directly across the street from Discover Green! I had never shot at the Hilton before, but I can say that it was a great experience. Scott & Jackie are an amazing couple and being a part of their wedding was an absolute pleasure!
